I have an older pair of the Mk IV rudder pedals, has orange box, I got for christmas ~2017. They had been working fine but I was interested in setting up the virtual toe brakes using T-link for DCS.
I was following this thread in the Manuals and Howtos section: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=2728
After downloading the software in step 1 I proceeded to step 2. I attempted to load the listed profile (BB_T-Link_v1_81_6.cfg) using VKB Device Config (v0.91.15). After pressing Set I received the following error:
"Read error CPUID"
Upon trying again I now receive
"Read data error, try again"
Based on other threads in this forum I am guessing that this was due to my firmware being too old to start from this step.
Please help me fix this and get it working again

Re: Help: MkIV Rudder pedals, getting read error CPUID
I performed a system restore and now the pedals seem to be working again, but the T-link software still doesn't recognize them and the vkb Device config still gives an error when trying to update the profile.

1 - T-Rudder Model VKBTR4001 RevMkIV
2 - Not sure I am getting this one right, Black Box v1.8, Njoy32 firmware v1.98.7 are listed in VKB Device Config
3 - 1 spring that came with it, never swapped
4 - Stock cam that came with it
5 - VKB Device Config v0.91.12 dated Feb 29, 2020 on FTP site
If the question is in regards to joystick/pedals axes, please additionally post:
6 - Vkbjoytester screenshots
7 - Vkbdevcfg-c screenshots
Its not clear to me which profile I need to set, I downloaded the BB_T-Link_v1_81_6.cfg and tried to set the pedals, which results in the error message below:
Vkbdevcfg-c error message .
After this the device is no longer seen on my computer, unplugging and replugging the usb brings it back

Re: Help: MkIV Rudder pedals, getting read error CPUID
Is my real problem that T-link only works with combining VKB sticks with pedals? In that I can't use a button on my warthog as a modifier for activating virtual toe brakes? I was told in the DCS forum that T-link works with other joysticks, maybe this isn't true?

Re: Help: MkIV Rudder pedals, getting read error CPUID
The error comes out due to the mismatch between the version of the configurator and the firmware. Recommended for this configurator is indicated in brackets. Higher is possible, lower is not. T-Link does not work with joysticks from other manufacturers.

Tried. Works with X-52Pro Throttle.
Your firmware does not support T-link. Look at mine.
Unzip https://yadi.sk/d/bY2CzQHmUBU-4g. T-link.exe, fw that works for me, BB_T-Link_v1_81_6.cfg in profiles folder. Exit T-link when you operate with VKBDevcfg! Press Set then run T-link. Try.

Re: Help: MkIV Rudder pedals, getting read error CPUID
Victorus, that zip file gives me the same error as before. Ron61 states the problem is the mismatch between the version of the configurator and the firmware. I understand that the firmware is older, then it seems I need a configurator that supports v1.8, but I don't know how to find this. My understanding of the instructions is that I need to load profile using configurator, press set (which gives me error) than close configurator and open T-link and start bootloader to update firmware. Neither the most recent T-link software nor the bootloader software recognize the device. Trying to set the provided profiles using the VKB Device Config that I have gives there error.
Please, how do I update the firmware?

Re: Help: MkIV Rudder pedals, getting read error CPUID
I Figured it out, as Ron61 pointed out I had to find a VKB Device Config that could work with the v1.80 firmware, I eventually found one now that I understand what the version at the title bar meant. Then in the VKB Config I had to press the boot loader button. That closes the VKB Device config. Then when I opened the ZBootloader and then it finally was recognizing the pedals, I was then able to successfully update the firmware to v1_81_6 file (file Victorus provided), now T-link recognizes it.
Whew, finally understand the different software utilities enough to make it work. Thanks for you support!
