MCG Pro Twist Communication error

Postby Silumail » Wed Apr 01, 2020 1:23

I just got the new Gunfighter III and MCG Pro with twist adapter today. Magnificent equipment and fantastic work on the parts guys!
Unfortunately...
After following the instructions on Youtube and installing the adapter, with twist adapter the grip is literally dead: no button input, no Z axis, no response from hats.
So, I'd like to request support, data below:

VKB Device Config: v0.91.15 (NJoy32 firmware v1.98.7)
Joystick firmware: v1.986
BlackBox mk 2 (the black one), Gunfighter III base, MCG Pro EN grip
CosmoCams S + 30# springs in the base.

Followed the setup instructions in installing the parts inside the grip and in configuring the axes in software. Double checked every step from the online guide after the first failed attempt to battle the dead grip. Triple checked all connectors now - after hours of fighting with the software.
I tried: flashing newest experimental firmware, tightening the nob which holds the joystick on the base (like 50 times now), flashing previous firmware, using previous Device config software - nothing seems to enable the communication between newly installed grip and the base.
The normal shaft works fine - the joystick is responsive, buttons and hats work.
The communication issue can be seen in screenshot nr 3.
Screenshots 1 and 2 attached to give you information about axis setup.

If u can save me the trouble of returning the twist or grip, I'll give you my liver :P
Best regards!

Could you please clarify the 2 statements above, it's a bit of a contradiction there. If there are no buttons or axes on the grip working then it should be a connection issue (X and Y axes would still work as they're on the base and I can see the base is fine). Clean up the 3 contact pads on the base shaft with just a little bit of alcohol and a cloth. Check the 3 contact pins on the bottom of the grip if they're still spring activated.

Thanks for fast response.

Sorry for this sounding like a contradiction, what I mean is:
1. with stock shaft being in place the joystick works fine.
2. with twist adapter, there is constant 100% communication error.

3. the twist adapter doesn't have any pins, just the flat connectors.
4. the stock shaft however has 3 pins and they work as intended.

Cleaned the contact pads - no change whatsoever.
Edited the first post to clarify the issue for other readers.

If I understand correctly, the grip is working fine. But it’s worth installing a twist block and the connection with the base disappears. This is true?
In this case, you need to look for a problem in the connection. Show a photo of an open grip with a twist. And a photo from the end of the grip so that the spring contacts in the adapter are visible.

Yes, this is precisely my problem. When joystick is upgraded with Twist adapter the software shows 100% connection error.
Uploading requested photos now.

I was wondering - shouldn't the adapter have 3 pins instead of flat connectors? My base is GF III.

And show the photo base. I have a bad feeling about this.

Well, everything became clear. The base and handle of the MCG you have version B. But the twist version A, i.e. the adapter has the same board as on the base stock. Without spring contacts. Apparently, there was confusion when ordering or sending. You should write to sales@vkb-sim.pro to resolve this issue.

Thanks for the immediate response and precise instructions.
I'll write to VKB Europe then as I have ordered from EU store.
Best regards!
