In any case, if you'll go for double OTAs you can revert any of them to regular joystick by swapping the OTA with the straight connector.

It's because the grip doesn't make proper contact with the base. Release the fastener and check on the 3 contact pads on the top of the base; if they're damaged take pics and fill up a service ticket. If they only have some dents reseat the grip and press on it while tightening the fastener for good...

Run VKBDevCfg, select the device at the top, click the Default button, then Yes to the configure popup which shows up after restart. Calibrate afterwards. If still doesn't work, try on another computer or in Safe mode, then see what software is getting in the way.
