Re: Gunfighter Y-Axis Spike

Excellent, I'd be happy with that resolution. I'll get in contact with Rainer. I purchased the Pro which included the extension, grip, blackbox etc. Would you like me to send it back entirely as I received it? Or just send back the base?

Re: Gunfighter Y-Axis Spike

After sleeping on it, I think at this stage UIV, I'd prefer to replace the base. Sending the controller board may fix the issue, but it may not. It also doesn't explain how the problem has occurred. The USB plug/board would also need repairing. I'd need replacement 50 springs, as I've broken 3. I'm ...

Re: Gunfighter Y-Axis Spike

I have conducted further tests without the y-axis spring installed, and with an entirely loosened damper. The same problem occurs. It looks like this is a magnet, or sensor issue of some kind. test_nodamper_nospring.png In other news, my usb power connector has come away from the board - the red wir...

Re: Gunfighter Y-Axis Spike

I am just waiting on a response from UIV before I do more investigating. He might know exactly what the issue is, and how to approach fixing it. I'll keep you posted.

Re: Gunfighter Y-Axis Spike

Thanks for sharing Ron61 - if it turns out to be a hardware issue eg. gimbal alignment or something glued incorrectly, I'd have to discuss an RMA procedure with VKB, given it's brand new, and under warranty. My hope is that it's software related. We'll know more soon.

Re: Gunfighter Y-Axis Spike

My previous test had been done with the damper engaged - not 'helicopter' style, but enough that the stick would return to center without many oscillations - a damped feeling. I have just tried removing the effect of the damper entirely by loosening both the damper screws and nuts. This hasn't affec...

Re: Gunfighter Y-Axis Spike

Thanks Rainer, I've tried MTL to 9 and Deadzone to 1 (on a side note, that is a better deadzone setting, thanks). But the axis problem still remains the same.

Re: Gunfighter Y-Axis Spike

Thanks Rainer, I really hope its just software related. Edit: Further testing reveals more about how the problem works. Basically, when pushing the stick away from center, the travel along the Y-Axis is consistent. Pulling the stick back from center immediately makes the curve steeper (quicker) than...

Gunfighter Y-Axis Spike

I have noticed that there is a strange 'step/spike' in my y-axis. It isn't a physical step, in that the spring tension increases in a linear fashion through the y-axis rotation. However when pulling the stick towards me there is a spike in the graph. I have tried running the VKB Device Config tool t...

Re: Gunfighter Y-Axis imbalance?

Brilliant, that makes more sense now. I would imagine this is why the oscillation variation is reduced slightly without the extension and just the grip. The pendulum effect of the grip+extension probably makes the graph look a lot scarier.
