I managed to solve this by using macros: set #1 is a button #45 and a CTRL+F11. Works like a charm

I've tried your steps, but they resulted in button #45 being registered as always pressed.

Doesn't really matter. My use case is that I'm using my L POV button to toggle headlook in Elite (bound to Joy 45).
