Get the EVO upgrade kit if you only care about the dry-clutch feature and ball bearing gimbal. If you want the newer circuitry and toggle switch, then the upgrade kit won't do. I upgraded my NXT with the base from an EVO KG12 WWII stick. I have not touched the dampening screws, so I can't speak upon...

When I got my left hand omnithrottle, I was concerned about how to use it as a throttle. Mine is pre-EVO and I will upgrade the base at some point.
