I have installed the latest FW (2.17 E) and this has completely solved my issues with virtual controllers. Thanks for the help.

It's a regular data cable, any 3rd party cable should work. Alternatively, you could get a GNX HID controller and run the THQ independently. Is the GNX Module-to-Module Interface Cable (Type-C to Type-C) a regular USB-C (Type-C to Type-C) cable or is it special? Nothing wrong with the sticks, they work perfectly fine.
