No center is a great option. Other applications would be helicopters.

So when you are doing the XPlane calibration were you able to hit the "skip axis" button in XPlane next to each individual axis? There will be extra axis you have to "ignore" as the black box shows all eight typically in XPlane. Once you do that it should complete the calibration...
